Mass Program  Installations

To distribute multiple copies of EndNote in accordance with a volume site license agreement, an administrator must first create a redistributable disk image of EndNote.

First, the administrator creates a redistributable file:

  1. Open the EndNoteX9 Installer.dmg file.

  2. Do not drag the EndNote X9 folder to your hard disk; instead, double-click on the folder.

  3. Run the EndNote X9 file.

  4. On the Volume/Site License Registration page, enter the Licensee information and your volume product key. You must also accept the terms of the volume license agreement. Click Next.

    Please wait while the installer creates a new disk image titled EndNote X9 Site Installer.dmg.

  5. Unmount (drag to the Trash) any EndNote disk image other than the EndNoteSite

  6. Double-click on the EndNote X9 Site Installer.dmg to verify that the top of the image indicates it is a Volume Site License Unlocked Installer. The image will also indicate that it is licensed to your company.

  7. Distribute the EndNote X9 Site Installer.dmg file to your end users.

Then, end users install EndNote:

  1. Open the Installer.dmg file, which includes an embedded product license key, drag the entire EndNote X9 folder to your Applications folder.

Note: The EndNote folder must reside in the Applications folder in order to use the Services menu from EndNote and in order to use Spotlight searching with OS X 10.4 or later.

  1. Double-click on the Applications folder, then the EndNote X9 folder, then the EndNote X9 application icon in order to launch EndNote and a Customizer program.

  2. Follow the instructions to complete the installation, using the Next button to move forward as needed through the installation screens.
